We just got back from our trip to Colorado. We saw some amazing Hereford farms along the way. We visited with Kevin and Vera Schultz at Sandhill Farms. We had such a wonderful time viewing their farm and impressive Herefords! They have an upcoming sale this weekend that includes some very outstanding bulls and cows. Thank you again to the Schultz family for your hospitality and the opportunity to preview your amazing animals.
We have been busy planning our flushes and AIs for this Spring!! We are beyond excited to flush our farm grown favorites, Southern Scarlet and Southern Grace plus FSL Miss Ribeye R117 7Z 4C (our Boyd cow)! We can't wait to see what the two Wildcat heifers we purchased at the Walker Foundation for the Future Sale will produce when we AI them this Spring.
Josh and I have been hovering over spreadsheets, pedigree sheets, and various reports to try and produce some top Hereford specimens. It is amazing how Math and Science impact the breeding process, when it used to be such a natural process. Sometimes, however, you do get that "gut" feeling that you just have to follow! DNA information is the future of the breed and producing top animals. It is exciting to see how genetic testing and technology has progressed the industry.
We are also preparing a small group of bulls to sell in the next couple of weeks. Every year they keep surprising us with how far our genetics have come. Keep checking back as I will post pictures of the bulls going up for sale.
Thank you again for your continued support and following our journey!
Hi! I'm Bethany/Beth Mansfield. I maintain our website, Facebook page, Instagram account, and twitter feed. I'm a mother to two little cowboys that live for life on the farm with our Herefords.
